10 Simple Methods of Using Tea Tree Oil to Cure Acne

However, when it comes to essential oils always do a patch test before directly applying it to the skin.

You will need:

  • Tea tree essential oil
  • Clean Cotton swab(ear bud)/ cotton ball
  • Distilled Water
  • Freshly washed clean towel

Step 1:

The first thing you need to do is wash your face with a gentle and mild face wash. Then, pat the face dry with the towel without harshly rubbing it since you do not want to further irritate the skin and make the acne worse.

Step 2:

Now, take a few drops of the tea tree oil and soak a cotton swab/cotton ball in it. Then, apply it directly to the parts of the skin where you have acne.
Here, if you have extremely sensitive skins then add a few drops of water in the oil before soaking the cotton in it.

Step 3:

Once you have applied the oil to all the acne spots then, you can either leave the oil on the skin for a few hours or leave it overnight and wash it off in the morning.

2. Use it as a toner

Most of us have already figured out the benefits of adding a toner into the skin care routine. However, if you are someone for whom the toners available in the market aren’t quite working then, you can make an anti-acne toner in your kitchen!

You can use these toners twice a day for best results.

DIY 1:

For this, you will need tea tree oil, coconut oil, rose water and a small container to store this toner.

All you need to do is, fill 70% of the container with distilled water and fill the rest 10% with coconut oil and the remaining 20% with tea tree oil. Shake the container to mix it all together.

Now, your toner is ready!

DIY 2:

In this recipe, you need the mighty tea tree oil, organic and unpasteurised apple cider vinegar and distilled water or rose water.

Start by filling 3/4th of your toner container with distilled water or rose water. Then, add 3-4 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar and 4-5 drops of the tea tree oil in it. Mix well and you are done.

You can use this toner 2-3 times a day if you have combination to oily skin type.

DIY 3:

Here, you will need tea tree oil, witch hazel/ glycerine and rose water.

In a container, add 2-3 drops of tea tree oil and witch hazel to 7-8 drops of rose water. Mix well.

This toner is not only help soothe and calm the acne but also tighten and reduce large pores of the skin.

You can use this toner every night to get the best out of it.

3. Use it in face packs

Yet another great way of using tea tree oil is to add them into face packs.

Face packs are a great way to subdue irritated acne prone skin and by adding tea tree oil into it you will turn them into an acne fighting blend.

·Tea tree essential oil, raw honey and yogurt

In a bowl, take equal parts of raw honey and yogurt and add 2-3 of tea tree oil to it. Mix it all together and apply it over the face and neck. Leave it on for about 2 minutes and rinse it off with a gentle cleanser.

You can use this face pack 2-3 times a week for best results.

· Tea tree oil, milk, nutmeg, turmeric and chickpea flour

Take 4-5 tablespoons of chickpea flour and add 1/4thteaspoon of turmeric and nutmeg, 2 tablespoons of milk and 3-4 drops of tea tree oil to it.

Mix all the ingredients well to form a smooth paste. Apply and leave it on till it dries off. Rinse with warm water.

Use this pack once a week.

· Tea tree oil, Multanimitti (fullers earth), Lime juice and ripened banana

In a bowl, mash ½ a banana and add 2-3 table spoons of Multani mitti, ½ teas spoon of lime juice and 2-3 drops of tea tree oil. Apply the mixture to the skin and leave it on for 10-15 minutes.

Wash well. You can use this pack 2-3 times a week.

4. Use it in a scrub

It’s very important for people with acne prone skin to gently exfoliate in order to get rid of the dead skin cells as well the excess sebum that could clog pores.

To make the scrub even more effective you can add a few drops of tea tree oil into it.

  • Tea tree oil, Sugar granules, coconut oil and honey

In order to make this scrub, take 2-3 tablespoons of granulated sugar and add 1 tablespoon of honey, 1/2 tablespoon of coconut oil and 3-4 drops of tea tree oil and mix them all together.

For this scrub, mix 2-3 tablespoons of oats, 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon 1 tablespoon of olive oil and 3-4 drops of tea tree oil together.

Your scrub is ready!

5. Use it to remove makeup and dirt
